January News! |
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone….. First off, thank you to all of you that donated your gifts and money towards the Good Neighbour Christmas Hamper that we supported this year. We supported a family of 3, a mum Melinda and her 17 yr old daughter and 11 yr old son, Brittany and Ryan. The children’s Christmas Present wishes were for pants, dvd , socks and such… and we were able to achieve this. Ryan got a pair of track pants, lined for extra warmth and a Harry Potter DVD plus socks, a hat and a mustang car that he could keep as a collectable. Brittany received a pair of jeans similar to what she was wanting and 2 t-shirts. We also gave them a basket of things like stocking stuffers as either donations or small gifts from the dollar store. Their food hamper was bursting and they were given all of the Christmas Dinner necessities as well as other food items to stock their pantry. Just to let you know, Ryan was born with a genetic deficiency with his kidneys and bladder. He has lost ½ of one kidney over time as well as having about 14 operations to help his kidneys/bladder function as normal as possible. He actually had just been released from Children’s Hospital this past week after being in there since the beginning of September with an infection which resulted in him being in isolation for 3 months. His mom was constantly at his side over this time and I can’t imagine how hard it would have been on his sister not to have them home all the time. When I dropped off the hamper, they were very happy and the two kids looked really happy to be together once again. Ryan hopes that this will be that last time for a long time that he will see the hospital. He is a bright and energetic boy and you would never know that he had ever been so ill. This sure gives me pause to count our blessings in life for our good health and time we have with family and friends. From my family to all of yours…. Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring all that you wish and hope for. Good health, love and peace. |
