Providing curling and social activities for all ages and abilities in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere

The New ‘Guy’!

It is with great pleasure that I announce that we have hired a new club manager. It has been a long hard process, but I believe we have chosen the best candidate for our club.

Guy Scholz is his name and he is an avid curler, curling competitively for many years.Guy has written three curling books, two of them with Cheryl Bernard, and has written for curling magazines including Sweep Magazine, Curling News and In The Rings. Being a Pastoral Minister for 27 years,Guy brings many skills that will be a big asset to our facility. He has worked with volunteers, has had to be creative with finances and run the buildings his churches were in. He does not wear his religion on his sleeve and you would not know he was a pastor unless he told you.

We brought Guy and his wife Sandi out from their home in Calgary to meet with them and show them the club and the area. Guy has been here before, but it was a first time for Sandi. They both loved the coast, the club, the area and the people. Those of us who met them, know that they are really likable people, and Guy has a HUGE passion for our sport. Sandi is a wonderful woman as well. She has experience with bartending and food and beverage management. Sandi will be traveling back to Detroit to help her family for a while as her Mother is terminally ill. Once she is here full time, guess where she wants to help out?

Guy started with us on Monday Aug 22nd and is spending his time getting up to speed with the workings of our club so he will be ready for Registration night, the Open House and the curling season. If you can’t wait that long to meet him, stop in at the club and introduce yourself.

I am excited to have Guy (and Sandi) on our team and hope, once you meet him, you will be as well.

See you on the ice!

Bill
