GEWC has revised it’s policy around bulk email sending in order to comply with email best practices, CAN-SPAM, and the CASL (Canada Anti-Spam Legislation). In the past we haven’t always been diligent in these efforts, which was caused many ESPs (Email Service Providers) to see us as spam. This is causing delivery issues to much of our membership. The steps we are taking will slowly rebuild our reputation with ESPs and resolve the delivery issues we’ve been encountering, but this will take some time.
We recently sent out an email regarding the Annual General Meeting containing a virtual voting component. This was sent to our entire membership that we have email addresses for. According to our analytics, this email was opened by 47+% of the recipients and 59 votes were cast, which meets our annual reporting obligations under the BC Societies Act of 25 members participating. We understand that many did not receive this email due to spam filters and we apologize for this inconvenience. We are doing the best we can considering the COVID-19 restrictions.
To make sure that all members are receiving important emails from us, please add firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org to your Safe Senders List and refrain from Unsubscribing from future emails.
